Our Commitment
Accessibility is part of the work. We build for everyone who wants to access our stories, our artists, and our shows — regardless of how they browse. We treat accessibility as an ongoing practice, not a one-time audit, and we welcome feedback that helps us do better.
Standard We Aim For
This Site is designed to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA. WCAG is an internationally recognized standard developed by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) that defines how to make web content more accessible to people with a wide range of disabilities.
Measures We've Taken
To support accessibility, we have implemented the following:
- Semantic HTML. We use proper landmark elements (
<header>, <main>, <footer>, <nav>) and heading hierarchy so assistive technologies can navigate content efficiently. - Keyboard navigation. All interactive elements — links, buttons, form fields, and menus — are reachable and operable using only a keyboard.
- Screen reader compatibility. We use ARIA labels and landmarks where semantic HTML alone isn't sufficient.
- Color contrast. Our dark and light themes use color pairings that aim to meet WCAG 2.2 Level AA contrast ratios.
- Resizable text. Our typography uses fluid, browser-scalable units. Your browser's text-size controls and zoom level are respected.
- Pinch-to-zoom. We do not disable browser zoom or pinch-to-zoom on mobile devices.
- Alternative text. Decorative images are marked as such; meaningful images include descriptive text so screen readers can convey their content.
- Form labels and error messages. Our forms use visible labels, clear error messages, and sensible tab order.
- Motion and animation. Reveal animations are subtle and respect the user's
prefers-reduced-motion setting where applicable. - Accessible anti-bot protection. Our forms use Cloudflare Turnstile instead of traditional CAPTCHAs. Turnstile verifies visitors without requiring image selection, audio challenges, or text puzzles — which are classic accessibility barriers. Turnstile is documented as conforming to WCAG 2.1 Level AAA for this reason. If Turnstile ever challenges you and you can't complete the check, email us and we'll assist via an alternative channel.
Known Limitations
Despite our best efforts, some parts of the Site may not yet be fully accessible. We are aware of the following areas and are working to improve them:
- Third-party embeds (such as video players, maps, and social widgets) may not fully meet WCAG 2.2 AA depending on the provider's implementation.
- Older content, including some images published before this accessibility effort began, may lack alternative text or caption data. We are reviewing and updating legacy content as we encounter it.
- We have not yet completed a formal third-party accessibility audit. We plan to commission one as the site stabilizes and grows.
Assistive Technology Compatibility
This Site aims to be compatible with:
- Recent versions of major browsers (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge)
- Operating system screen readers (VoiceOver on macOS/iOS, TalkBack on Android, NVDA and JAWS on Windows)
- Browser zoom up to at least 200% without loss of functionality
- Keyboard-only navigation
